our story

7.png

This story begins the way so many modern love stories do...

...on a dating app called Hinge.

Just two profiles in a sea of many until one answer stopped Billy in his tracks. When asked what a typical Sunday looked like, Kelsey replied simply: watching the Eagles. In that moment, Billy knew and he matched without hesitation.

For Kelsey, the pull was instant in a different way. Billy’s good looks caught her eye first, but it was his warm smile and those deep, beautiful brown eyes that held her there. The kind of eyes that felt steady. Safe. Like home.

Messages flowed easily between them – playful, curious, hopeful. Two strangers leaning closer with every exchanged word, both wondering when conversation would finally turn into something more. And then came the question that would change everything: What should our first date be?

Because if there is one truth about Billy and Kelsey, it’s this – when they show up, they show up fully. And their first date would prove that in a way neither of them could have imagined.

It was October. The Phillies were in the NLCS...

And Billy, a die-hard fan whose heart beat in red pinstripes, made a bold suggestion: a playoff game.

Kelsey hesitated. A postseason baseball game felt big – too big, maybe, for a first date. And truth be told, baseball wasn’t yet part of her world. But Billy spoke about the Phillies with reverence and fire, about what it meant to be there when the stakes were high and the crowd was alive. And something in her trusted that feeling.

So, in true Kelsey fashion, she did what she’s always done when facing something big…she turned to her dad. She called her dad, told him about this guy she was excited about, about how much this game meant to him, and asked if maybe, just maybe, he could help make it happen.

Twenty-four hours later, destiny delivered – Game 3, Phillies versus Padres – Section 111, Row 13, Seats 1 & 2.

That night, the Phillies won 4–2. But more importantly, something else took hold. Under the lights, surrounded by cheers and belief, Billy and Kelsey felt it, the certainty that this was more than a date. Their laughter came easier. Their connection deepened. And just like the Phillies, they found their rhythm together.

From that moment on, baseball wasn’t just a game, it was woven into their love. With every Phillies game they went to came another memory, another reminder that the best moments in life are meant to be shared.

And then came September 25, 2024 – the last home game of the season. A place filled with history. A place where their love had learned how to grow. In Section 105, Row 9, Seats 1 & 2, Billy took a breath, reached into his pocket, and dropped to one knee. He opened a small velvet box, his hands steady but his heart racing, and said:

“We started our journey here, so it just made sense to start the next chapter of our lives here. Will you marry me?”

Without pause, Kelsey said, “YES!” The crowd roared. The moment was sealed. And just as it had been from the very beginning, love and victory arrived together, the Phillies winning once more, this time against the Chicago Cubs.

As Billy Beane once said,

“how can you not be romantic about baseball?”

– a sentiment that had never felt more true.
